TONGE: "JUDGEMENT OF SOLOMON"12.00.00am GMT Mon 24th Feb 2003 "A Solomon's Judgement," was the description given to the final decisions on Richmond Park announced on Monday February 24th by Sir William Weston, Chief Executive of the Royal Parks Agency. "The decisions were never going to please everyone, but the RPA has listened to our views and come up with compromise solutions," the MP said. "The 20mph speed limit is widely accepted. The reduction of Pen Ponds car park to 95 places with landscaping and provision for the disabled is good news for all those people who feared it would close completely," Dr Tonge added. "The RPA is also planning to put up a barrier at Robin Hood roundabout to allow free flow exit from Pen Ponds but prevent needless journeys when the car park is full." "The closure of Robin Hood Gate is to go ahead in the autumn and will be reviewed after three months." "I intend to ensure all my constituents in that area have their say on this and I hope they will write to me with their views." "I was personally very sorry to see the Agency will not proceed with the land train idea and hope very much they will not rule it out altogether in future."
