Crane Valley Consultation Extended12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 24th Jun 2003
The consultation on the Crane Valley Master Plan is to be extended by one day to allow those who have not had the opportunity to visit the exhibition and ask questions a chance to do so. The consultation period was due to finish on Friday 4 July. Now crucially the exhibition, which is in the Civic Centre atrium, will open for an extra day on Saturday 5 July from 10.00am to 4.00pm. Consultants will be on hand to answer the questions of those who have been unable to visit so far. Commenting on the extension Cllr David Marlow Said: "We are extending the exhibition and consultation for just one day but crucially that is a Saturday. We hope that those who have not been unable to get down to date because of work or other commitments will be able to come along on that day. Importantly also we will have the consultants on hand to answer questions and explain the various options. "I would urge anyone who has not already seen the exhibition, or been to last weeks public meeting, to try and get along on the that day. Crane Valley is a complex project with huge benefit to go to the whole community if we get it right. It is important therefor that all interested groups and residents have a chance to make their views known and make constructive input where possible." Liberal Democrat Councillor Martin Elengorn said; "It is notable that this press release calls the Crane Valley "a complex project" and the Chief Executive (see Hampton Online, www.hampton-online.co.uk) refers to the "redevelopment of the Crane Valley". Any pretence of protecting the natural environment has been forgotten. One extra day for the exhibition is not going to persuade people that removing Metropolitan Open Land status is desirable.
