Tonge Holds Public Consultation Meeting

On Friday 27th February, Jenny Tonge MP, and Susan Kramer, Prospective Lib Dem Candidate for Richmond Park, held a public consultation meeting in Barnes. During the meeting a number of important local and national issues were raised, including a discussion of Lib Dem plans to replace the Council Tax with a fairer system of local income tax. The meeting is part of a series of consultation meetings that Dr Tonge has been holding across the Constituency.

Susan Kramer, Prospective Lib Dem Candidate for Richmond Park, "As a Barnes resident I particularly enjoyed the meeting. One of the key issues raised by local residents was the question of car use in Richmond Park. Jenny Tonge MP and I have reasserted out commitment to plans for a new 20mph limit, but also made it clear that we do not support any further gate closures, and that there should be an initial review of the closure of Robin Hood Gate. We

argued that this should be done in conjunction with a comprehensive review of traffic flows both in and around the Park in order to develop a long term strategy for dealing with congestion in this area."
