With ninety-nine days to go bookies have now put Simon Hughes as second favourite in the London Mayoral elections on 10th June 2004.

According to William Hill bookmakers, Simon Hughes, the Liberal Democrat candidate, is now in second place with odds of 6/1 to win with Steve Norris, the Conservative candidate, trailing on odds of 8/1.

Simon said:- "As London approaches the elections it is becoming more and more clear that the election will be a fight between the Liberal Democrats and Blair's Mayor."

"For almost 20 years the current Mayor and the Conservative candidate for London have run the capital and yet it still struggles near the bottom of the quality of life league table of decent cities to live in."

"It is time for London to look for a fresh, exciting and dynamic alternative that stops blaming things on past under-investment and under-performance and gets on with the job of making our capital a truly world class city."
