Record Tide Of Questions In Commons By Local MP

2.22.52pm GMT Mon 8th Mar 2004

Jenny Tonge MP set something of a record last week because her name came up in the ballot for Prime Ministers Questions, which she used for tackling the PM on the future of Heathrow airport. But as well as that, although her name was not on the order paper for any other Ministers Questions, the speaker called her during Defence questions, Foreign Office questions, and International Development questions and Treasury questions leading her colleagues to wander what they need to do to be heard on record.

Questions asked ranged from progress on the Millennium Development goals to the National Army Museum's reluctance to commemorate the Medloc train, which used to transport soldiers from the Mediterranean Front back to England on leave during the second world war.
