Animal magic comes to Whitefarm Lodge

12.33.45pm BST (GMT +0100) Thu 5th Apr 2007

Animal magic comes to Whitefarm Lodge care home in Whitton next week when Miller's Ark mobile farm pays a visit.

The home, in Vicarage Road, was opened two and a half years ago and is run by Care UK in partnership with Richmond Council. Sixty frail elderly people are looked after there. The Miller's Ark visit is on Wednesday, April 11 (between 2pm and 4pm).

Richmond Council's Cabinet Member for Adult Services, Health and Housing, Cllr Denise Carr, said:

"For elderly residents, many suffering with dementia, being in such close quarters with farm animals will be an exciting experience and really therapeutic. The mobile farm does terrific work with visits to young and old alike and their visit to Whitefarm Lodge is eagerly awaited."
