Youth radio station returns to the airwaves

Change FM, the radio station run by and for young people in Ham, returns to the airwaves on Monday, 27 August.

In a Richmond Council-run project, young people aged 11 to 20 will host a mixture of music shows, interviews, current affairs and comedy sessions from studios at Grey Court School. They will all gain valuable experience and accredited training in radio/music broadcasting and production - and for some it could be the launch pad for a broadcasting career. The station will be on air at 87.7FM until Sunday, 9 September

Cllr John Coombs, Cabinet Member for Youth, Culture and Leisure on Richmond Council, said: "Boosting access to positive activities and the opportunity to gain accredited training is a key aspect of the Council's commitment to young people. Change FM is an excellent project giving all involved practical, first-hand experience of what it takes to run a radio station. The schedule is tailor-made for its audience as it's chosen by young people themselves. Hopefully it will be the start of a career in broadcasting for some of the youngsters involved."
