A fun day out for children and families is being held in Crown Road, St Margarets, on Saturday September 29 - thanks to funding from Richmond Council.

The Town Centre Opportunities Fund is suppporting a community fair, staged by St Margaret's Traders' Association, boasting a fun fair as well as a host of stalls, competitions, and other activities run by local charities, clubs and other organisations. It will run from 11am to 5pm. The fund provides up to 50 per cent of the cost of schemes and events that benefit the business community. It matches sponsorship and funding already raised or pledged by local businesses and supporters.

Leader of Richmond Council, Cllr Serge Lourie, said: "This promises to be a superb event and I am very happy that the Council has helped to make it a reality. The opportunities fund has proved a springboard for success. I am also delighted that we have been able to provide matched funding for a town centre manager in St Margarets. As a Council, we are committed to providing money to improve the business viability of local communities and the fund is an excellent way of achieving this."
