5.40.25pm GMT Fri 7th Dec 2007

England rugby star Lawrence Dallaglio will officiate when a new outdoor sports area is opened at Richmond House, part of Hampton Community College, on Tuesday (December 4).

The £100,000 scheme boasts an all-weather sports court for five-a-side football, basketball and tennis; raised seating; new paved areas; and landscaping. Richmond House is a specialist unit that houses 15 children. Richmond Council has contributed £70,000 towards the project and the Wooden Spoon Society £30,000. England and Wasps hero Lawrence Dallaglio is Honorary President of the Middlesex region of the Society, dedicated to helping disadvantaged children and young people.

Richmond Council's Cabinet Member for Children's Services and Education, Cllr Malcolm Eady, said: "These new facilities are superb and follow on from two successful phases of internal refurbishments at Richmond House. My thanks also go to the Wooden Spoon Society for their great generosity."
