Hurry down to your local library4.56.28pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 21st Apr 2008 • THE borough's libraries are getting ready for a reading rush with Saturday, 26 April designated 'Join A Library Day'. The day, which is part of National Year of Reading and supported by Richmond Council, aims to get people of all ages to join their local library. Residents are urged to visit their local libraries where staff will be on hand to answer any queries, as well as providing information on the range of services available and upcoming events and projects. Those joining on the day can fill out a universal membership form which allows access to any library in the country. In addition, the first 50 new members will receive a free copy of the National Year of Reading's The Ultimate Book Guide and a welcome pack. Cllr John Coombs, Cabinet Member for Youth, Culture and Leisure on Richmond Council, said: "This is another superb initiative, one supported by every library in the borough. Joining your local library is one of the best ways to access to the world of books and the multitude of other services. The borough's libraries have a vast range of free resources, so whether it is getting internet access, attending reader's groups, events or just borrowing a book, they offer something for everyone. I urge everyone, particularly those with children, to take advantage of this opportunity and go down to their local library on the day."
