• Cllr Serge Lourie: "WE want to hear the views of the public on this site that has been an eyesore since 1981.

[The exhibition in the Atrium at the Civic Centre in Twickenham has closed but the proposals from the three developers are on the Council website at: http://www.richmond.gov.uk/twickenham_riverside_shortlisted_candidates ]

They were asked to produce schemes that closely match the Council`s Development Brief which includes a high quality River Centre, open space and other infra-structure improvements in return for as small a private development as is viable.

We are now in the final stages of a saga that has lasted far too long - this site has been derelict for over 28 years and is a real blot on the local landscape. The exhibition will display three properly worked up options for its development and we want the public to help us decide which of these is the best. I am very clear that the time for talking about this site is over and the time for positive action has arrived. But we will only make the final decision once we have considered the views of those who respond to the consultation."

• UPDATE, Sunday Mar 15: • THE three shortlisted candidates [Countryside, Quad Elmer and the Osborne group] have each provided [as pdfs]: a layout plan, to include public realm; an artist's impression including elevation showing River Centre; and an internal view of River Centre, also showing parking and highways. The consultation will close on Mar 27. These files are on the Council website.

What happens next?

• 9-30 March - Public consultation on proposals ; • 30 March - 24 April - Evaluation of proposals ; • 27 April - Cabinet select a bidder with whom to further clarify, specify and fine tune the tender ; • 28 May - Council decides to whom to award the contract ; • 9 June - Earliest date for entry into contract ; • July onwards - Preparation of a planning application for the scheme which will involve further consultation before and during its submission
